Handgun Skills III Adverse Conditions — 3.5 Hours — Under Review

This class will be training in adverse conditions. It will be cold. In reality, you will not have the choice of the conditions you may have to solve challenges in. Students should dress in layers including warm socks and footwear. Gloves are recommended.

Prerequisite: This is an intermediate level class. The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate how to safely load, fire, and unload a handgun as well as have demonstrated competence in working from a holster and performing reloads.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements may be removed from training.

Course Outline

  • Review and reinforcement of Fundamental Marksmanship Principles
  • Presentations and recovery from the holster
  • Sight picture and its relationship to size and distance
  • Trigger control
  • Shot delivery
  • Refining shooting fundamentals
  • Reloading techniques
  • Malfunction clearance procedures
  • Single hand techniques
  • Moving then shooting
  • Target to target transition drills

Classes starting at 8:30am will run until 5:00pm.
Classes starting at 1:00pm will run until 9:30pm.
Classes starting at 6:00pm will run two consecutive nights until 10:00pm each night.

Equipment List

  • Quality functional semi-automatic pistol – Full size and compact pistols only. No micro pistols or pocket pistols.
  • 3 magazines minimum
  • Optional loading devices
  • Dominant side, hip-mounted OWB holster
  • Magazine pouch(es)
  • Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide
  • Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
  • Clothing suitable for training in any weather, pants must have belt loops
  • Wraparound eyewear and hearing protection
